well every one its time thanks for the help guys oh yea anyone no if i can use a 500 watt flood light instead of an hps system high presure sodium lights tend to be expensive out here are the light spectrums the same
I've heard that floodlights generate too much heat to be useful in a grow-op. I don't know from experience, sorry.
Flood lights put out too much heat and not the right spectrum of light. Wide spectrum (Aquarium type) 4 foot florescents would be cheaper than HPS or Metal Halide .Depending on your setup ,you might be able to get away with a 2 lamp fixture (or 2 or more fixtures) .The're easy to pick up at a Builders Square ,Home Depot or any other similar 'general contracting' type store. The big lamps like HPS are really the way to go ,as they do make a BIG difference........but floro's can do a fairly good job. I have a 75 Watt HPS that only cost about 40 bucks ,and use it along with a 4 bulb fixture of floros ,It doesn't work as well as my 250 HPS ,but it is cheaper to run .
