I'm looking for a growing medium to use in an ebb n flow, or a fogger, and I saw this duct filter that I was going to try to use.

It's like 2'x3', an inch thick, with course strands that say 100% natural fibers, washable, biodegradable, etc. It says it has low airflow resistance which makes me think it'd work with a fogger.

I would assume that means it's non toxic...especially since it's meant to filter air that you'd breathe.

I was thinking I could cut cubes similar to rockwool, or just use the entire thing as a sheet and plant the seeds right on it?

Should I suspend it and let the roots just hang below it into a tub, or should I put like 4 of these on top of each other to give a 4" thick, 2' wide, 3' long bed to grow in?

I was also thinking of maybe wrapping it around a cylinder shaped cage and using it like the omega garden.

That rectangular grid on the right-most picture is 1/2" x 1/4" for perspective.
