Would Planting right in the ground work without putting anything down first? Like just raking the leaves away until you hit dirt and planting in that?
sure itll work but you always want to clean a nice amount of space before you start. fluff the dirt and mix it up. then plant your girl and make sure its compacted so it wont fall over if anything.

once you get a whole big enough , try to see if you can find a piece of wood to place at the bottom of the whole for the roots to hold more water when you water it. make your whole and put hte wood down. then place more dirt over it and leave some space forthe plant. then place your girls in and make sure they are steady and fastened into your medium. you dont want it to be loose. it will hurt itself with wind or waterings if it is
