grateful dead - question for fellow dead heads

Discussion in 'Music genres, Bands and Artists' started by then i got high, Mar 26, 2012.

  1. I can honestly say i have never listened to the gratful dead until the beginning of this year. That being said, i feel my appriciation for this hand has grown. I have the "workingmans dead" and "shakedown street" record albums.

My favorite dead songs are :

Walk me out in the morning dew
    Shakedown street
    Us blues
    Friend of the devil
    Casey jones

What song do you dead heads like to smoke to? Mine is shakedown street. Theres something about the background beat to this song that sounds awsome when stoned :)

  2. Forgive me for some minor typos as im typing this on my phone haha

  4. American Beauty is a great album, check it out lol

    Box of Rain
    Ripple
    Brokedown Palace
    Sugar Magnolia
    Attics of my life

(my favs on that album lol)

I also like the 2004 release of Terrapin Station, because it has a BUNCH of great songs, and they added Fire on the Mountain

However, im really tired of all this Further nonsense lol.... but i do love me some TGD

There's SO much good Dead shit that I can't even list it off. Check out Furthur too, Bob and Phil keep the legacy going.

  9. Jack straw, ship of fools, box of rain, and of course broke down palace when I'm feeling blue

  10. Of course there is so much more I'm just naming a few...lol

  11. American Beauty for sure, I like that album and I don't even really like The Grateful Dead.

  12. friend of the devil
    touch of grey
    sugar mags
    uncle john's band
    estimated prophet

while typing that list i realized i like all of their stuff haha

  15. My favorite dead songs, Half Step Mississippi Uptown, I know You Rider, and Scarlet Begonias.
If you get a chance check out the Pizza Tapes. Some Jerry and Grisman jamming to the bluegrass classics.

  16. Mr Charlie
    Tom Thumb Blues
    New New Minglewood Blues
    Brown Eyed Women
    Doin That Rag
    One More Saturday Night
Goin Down The Road Feelin Bad
    I know You Rider
    Viola Lee Blues
    Second That Emotion
    Cassidy
    St Stephen
    Big River

...Theres just way too many good jams to list, start slow and listen to as much as you can, every song is different (even the same songs they play live are never the same way twice) youll notice that in different eras the band has a different sound and youll see that you might prefer some years over others.

    Happy listening!!
