Giving serious thought to moving to Canada

  1. Move to ontario its awesome here cops don't care about weeeed

  2. i live in van. idk the avg rent but i know they will sell for 600k-1mil. If you don't have the money to live inside vancouver it's not really worth it imo. there are some nice residential towns outside van but it's nothing like living a vancouver lifestyle. Cost of living here is way higher, same with taxes, horrible weather (to most people) but I smoking weed lets me really enjoy the rain and such. We don't have big white winters in vancouver, usually theres 1-7 days of fairy-tale snow every winter and the rest is slush. Move up north 3 hours to whistler and yo uwill get fairy tale winter for 4 months out of the year. I would highly reccomend whistler over vancouver if you could possibly land a job there. I have travelled to almost 100 countries and whistler will always be my favorite place in the world. awesome night life, unbeatable sports life, best ski/snowboard slopes worldwide, bmx and boating in summer

  3. Do it. I've heard canada is beautiful. Weed is legal, and a lot less bullshit to deal with than here in the us of a.

  4. Weed is legal here?!?

  5. as well as prostitution, but you'd know all about that

  6. A lot of my friends have moved to BC to work or whatever, and for other *cough* reasons, have failed terribly to the point where they got stuck in a rut.
But if you're really dedicated, you can make it - just expect to pay about $1000 and upwards for an apartment in Vancouver, with not the greatest quality of life. It's so full of junkies it's unbelievable.

I'm one of those arrogant ONTARIO RULES kind of people. Ontario has Toronto, Ottawa, and northern Ontario is just amazing and beautiful.

  7. keep in mind though if you do choose to move to canada you will have to qualify first

  8. i was thinking about going to canada if the US economy doesnt get back in shape soon but the price of living is high and im not sure if canada is also going through some form of economic slump. But hey weed aint a big deal and you can get way cheap meds....and i heard sodomy is legal(not so sure about that one lol)

  9. in Montreal you can probably find a 2 bedroom for $800 or $1000 a month, if not then slightly cheaper/more expensive but not by much.

in Toronto, you're looking at $900+ a month for just a 1 bedroom. keep in mind that you don't really need a car or anything though, transit is too bomb there and only like $70 a month.

in Vancouver, you're looking upwards of $1,000 for an apartment unless you get a basement apartment somehow which is usually a lot cheaper.

  10. Pretty sure you can fuck a chick in the ass where you live to, it isn't like the cops are watching.

  11. BC is great and all.. But it's expensive. Montreal is the place to be man! Cops don't care about anything you do unless you're a college student protesting against the government... then they just beat the shit out of you

  12. Definitely considered it, especially if Romney gets elected! lol. Only been to Quebec but was pretty chill, would love to go to BC sometime. Not big on all the French speaking though... no offense

I've reconsidered Ontario as where I'll move to. Right now it seems likely that I'll go to California for my PhD (assuming I can get in to a school there). Unless this country pisses me off enough to give up, I have to stay in the States for a while. But I'm totally planning on looking for a job there (postgrad/professorship). I'm planning on getting the fuck out of the US, it just remains to be seen when I move.

How well do public school teachers get paid in Canada? The job market for professors is pretty tough, so if I can't get one off the bat I've decided I'll get by teaching chemistry to high school kids.
Also, do they mind if teachers use MMJ?

Sorry if this hard to understand, I'm pretty high right now.

  14. Well-paid is an understatement.

You'll want to try and get into the Catholic school system though, those teachers make even more cake and the schools are considerably better haha. It's not even a requirement to be Catholic in those schools anymore, they don't give a crap (at least where I am) :p

I dunno about the mmj but back in public highschool I had teachers who DEFINITELY burned, even with students -- but yeh theres exceptions to everything.

  15. Anywhere in the West the economy is doing really well.

  16. They key is just to not rent a place near the junkies. Kind of like staying away from all those lovely neighborhoods in Toronto.

  17. I just looked up teaching salaries for teachers in my province (Saskatchewan), and the table showed that starting teachers get paid $40277 a year, and the max (though I don not know how you get paid this much) is $83544. Pretty damn good for teaching.

  18. I just left Halifax, LOVED it there, however the only problems I had was the lack of parking is retarded, and the insurance is private so it gets expensive unless you're the perfect driver with no dings on your history. The weather is great, the winters are wet and usually mild so the roads stay pretty clear in the winter. The province I would choose to live in if I ever went back I'd have to say is Alberta. Work wont be so difficult to find and from my understanding is a fairly wealthy province what with the oil and all and they are fairly well protected from the government and rest of canada so they are left to flourish without being sucked dry.

Montreal was my favorite city, just about everyone speaks english but I would learn french just so you become more "accepted" by the local population, they can be rather douchy to people that come in and only speak english, its rare but it happens.

  19. It's not LEGAL but it's medicinal, and the cops don't care about weed at all unless you're dealing and distributing, it's too minor for them to waste their time and money otherwise.

And it's not called prostitution, it's called escorts, and they're usually sleezy and greasy as fuck, they're always in the paper.

  20. BC is expensive, toronto and montreal are too. The bud in ontario is great. BC has great prices, idk about montreal only been there a few times
