I have too - which is why I know it bares only the slightest resemblance to the hunger games. I'm personally getting a bit tired of the comparisons...I mean have you seen the hunger games? I have, and it didn't come across as though it was trying to be BR. There's literally maybe two elements that are the same. The Hunger Games was a solid and entertaining film with far superior dialogue. (and I'm sure that any sequels will be MUCH better than the pitiful BR2) If you don't watch it on account of the comparison, you're missing out on a decent movie. That said OP I agree with the overall sentiment of your post. Battle Royale is a fucking excellent movie, and I would strongly recommend it to anyone.
I never said it was a match for match to hunger games. Im just saying that if people think hunger games is good, then they should have a view of BR. IMO.
Well, in all fairness your thread title kind of implies that one should be overlooked for the other. But yeah, I'm totally with you on this. Battle Royale is in my opinion superior in some ways, definitely has more shock value and a more interesting bleak future setting...definitely more violent... Overall though, I'd say hunger games has a better storyline, BR has better action and atmosphere. REALLY too bad about BR2 though, IMO that sucked SO bad.
