First time indoor grow

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by StonedSnakes, Apr 1, 2022.

  1. Hi guys, so this is my first indoor grow, I’m growing 1 plant which is crop circle auto by cream of the crop. I made my own makeshift grow tent out of a cardboard box, I’m using a 300w led currently running 18-6 light cycle.

I’m using coco perlite 70/30. I’m using bio grow and rhizotonic atm but will be adding cal mag soon, I also have cannazyme and pk 13/14 and bio grow for when it flowers.

it started off very slow as I didn’t measure the ec the first few watering with rhizotonic and it think it may have got nute burn as a seedling which stunted it’s growth for a while.

    day 2-8

Around day 10 is when I started to notice that it was way too small for its age and that it’s colour has started to yellow, so I started adding bio grow 1/4 nutes and rhizotonic and measured the ec before and runoff for every feed.

    Day 10-18

it’s currently on day 19 and is growing rapidly, I’ve already learnt so much about indoor growing and coco from the little time I’ve had this and hopefully can get a half decent yield despite my mistakes and ridiculous set up haha.

  2. Nice grow box! I've never grown in coco, and seedlings are always tricky for me so well done for keeping it alive. Can't wait to see this progress

  3. Appreciate it man :smiley-rolling-joint:

  4. Checkout my grow thread, I made a little veg area in my closet, it's been working well. What light are you using?

  5. Your closet looks great! Iove how you’ve got veg other than weed growing there. I’m using a 300w dual spectrum bulb.

  6. its a long hard road and good luck to you

  7. Day 20: everything looking good, still a little small for day 20 but I stunted it a little as a seedling. Going to start adding cal mag to the bio grow and dropping the rhizotonic from tomorrow.

  8. Patience is really the hardest thing with growing.
Give it time. Looking good. 930195E4-2B11-4A60-A74F-02782B200179.jpeg

  9. why egg cartons? i understand you probably grow on a big scale but the roots can get all tangled that way . If I were starting a bunch of seeds like that i would have them all in separate containers but i obviously dont have multiple seeds to start

One seed per egg…. I cut up the bottom of the egg carton when I transplant. Also by the time I transplant the roots are usually popping thru. The cardboard carton breaks up during the grow … pic today - dry seeds went into soil March 13. (So almost 3 weeks tota)

  11. Day 22: I started feeding cal mag along with the grow nutes yesterday and it’s first 5 bladed leaves have grown. So all is still well.

  13. Day 26: so I’ve had to trim the 2 oldest fan leaves, the ones right above the cotyledons because they were pretty much dead. Also today I’ve noticed the leaves are slightly curling upwards and I’m thinking it could be too much heat as I have no way of regulating temps in the box, any advise appreciated.
    Thanks

  14. I have had issues with this as well. Being a new grower myself I am only sharing with you what I did, which was to add in a portable AC unit.

Now it does have its down sides: power consumption will impact electricity bill, space for it, it will dry up the atmosphere and you will need to supplement the humidity, you need to be able to exhaust it out of a window or the attic, and you’ll need to ensure your controller for temp can handle the amps that it needs to draw.

As an alternative I have seen a lot of people using the AC infinity and no air conditioner, but make sure and research the size of your tent and needs.

There’s a couple of options for you to look into. I went with what I had on hand and modified it to work for me. I hope you find a suitable option.

  15. Appreciate the reply ^ I ended up adding a fan and it’s already made a noticeable difference in the temp, hopefully it stops curling up and drooping soon or it might turn out to be another problem and not heat stress.

Day 28: it’s drooping and the tips are curling up a little but I only added a fan this morning so hopefully that fixes the issue

  16. How hot is it in your tent? I usually start noticing heat stress if temps are constantly above 35c

  17. Honestly I don’t actually know, the thermometer I had isn’t accurate at all, but when I would put my hand in the box usually it would feel like the weather when I’m on holiday in a hot country aha. Now it feels cool since I put in the fan, like a little above room temp.
If it was heat stress, how long does it take after I’ve fixed the problem for the leaves to go back to normal?

  18. If it's on the side with the fan its wind stress. Looks like its constantly getting hit anyways, in that last set of pics

Nm guess my high ass shoulda read more lol

Are you running a extraction fan?

  19. Aha no worries, like I said I just put the fan on this morning and it’s pointing upward more towards the lightbulb to cool it down rather than directly on the plant itself

Something I noticed is you have aluminum foil over the light there on top. I dont know what it's there for I do know that I use aluminum foil for food I take off the grill to retain heat while it rests. So if you're having heat issues may consider replacing the top there with something that doesn't retain heat especially since heat rises.
Get an extraction fan ran up there. Just need the duct going in top of tent fan doesn't have to be in it or on top of tent just shorter the duct work less work the fan has to do.
