First Grow In Coco

  1. Hi guys, been a while since I have posted in the forums. Up until now, I have always grown in soil. I decided to finally take some friends advice and try growing in coco. I'm using Botanicare Coco brick. Before using I soaked it in a solution of Tap Water, Mega Crop @ 6g per gal and Cal/Mag (Greenleaf Nutrients) @1.8 g per gal. I then mixed in about 20% perilite. I had 2 seeds in a moist towel germinated , which I carefully placed in each container with the tap root down. Also had a clone from a previous soil grow, that I placed, still in rockwoll cube, in a third container.

I had absolutely no idea what to expect from this medium, but did research and understand that, unlike my soil grows, I want to keep coco moist at all times. I have been feeding daily at 1/2 recommended strength nutes, until the saucer below fills, then suck off the standing water. Right now these ladies are in a closet, while my tent finishes up, with the flowering ladies.

130w cheap "blurple", 100w deformable led light (3500k) and a 65w cfl (5000k) are what light up my closet. I am absolutely amazed with the explosive growth I have had so far. These are 10 days old, in 3 gal nursury no pots.

  2. Looks good.
    Coco is simple.
Feed daily to run off with a pH of around 6.0.
    Never plain water.
    Never let it dry out.

    Good luck.
