I just recently bought a 1.5 cu/ft bag of fox farms ocean forest, and about 12-24 hrs after I got home with it, i started to notice quite a few of these tiny little gnats.... Any ideas what they are, what causes them, & what i can do to get rid of em b4 i transplant my babies into the new bag of soil? Thx in advance!
probably fungus gnats. sounds like your shop didn't store the dirt properly.. same happened to me, then i switched shops and never had any problems. personally i wouldn't use that bag dude.. if you have a few flyers that means there are tons of eggs ad larvae in there too.
you can put the bag in a big tote container and let it completely dry out.....than poof, no more gnats. just dont let the soil dry out in your grow rooms or anything.......its more of a garage thing -OSUB
I was also going to put blame on the grow shop... FFOF rarely has any gnat issues, unless it came fro a shop infested with them... I would find somewhere else to buy it , like AW said.. PS: I would still use the soil though, and just to some treatments.
