So another grow and another set of problems which i could have avoided by not being lazy. My last grow gave disappointing results of about 72g per plant (various strains) all grown in 15L autopots fed on Canna nutes following their heavy feeding schedule with rhizotonic, boost and cannazym. Grown in 2/3 coco and 1/3 perlite. Two tents DR240W's (1.2m x 2.4m x2m) with 12 plants in each under 2 1m parabolic reflectors with 600w MH for first two weeks of flower and then 600HPS for the rest. I turned the plants when they were about 12" -16" tall, they didn't stretch a whole lot a I felt that the small size was the major factor in the poor yield. Previously I have achieved approx 120g per plant in the same set up but with taller plants. Anywho I let this grow go on an extra 2 weeks but with almost all new genetics and guess what... I failed to keep an eye on them and now.... I have this.. This is tent A which is housing 6 x C99, 3 AK48, 3 PINEAPPLE EXPRESS. They are growing at a crazy rate though, whats my best plan of attack? Top, Fim, bend?
c99 is known to stretch like crazy and can easily hit 3x the height as when you start flower. its a huge pain in the ass but such good smoke. some pheno types are worse than others but all of the ones ive seen will stretch quite a bit, and dont produce a ton. all you can really do is tie them down, or you could super crop the shit out of it. i had to do that a few times with c99 since it stretches out soo fast. if you are just starting flower and out of room there is no way you will be able to finish that imo. if it were my shit id take as many clones as i could and veg for 2 weeks and get a massive sog from clones off of the plants and keep the big ones as moms.
I think I'm gonna aggressively supercrop them now and hope for the best. I thought that the c99 was a good yielder thats why I bought it, apart fromt he quality of the smoke, I have 6 seeds som hoping for a big yield phenotype to clone from. I also have a 2nd tent with 8 Holy Grail Kush, 2 Blue Dream Haze and 2 Kandy Kush almost as bad as the 1st tent I think Super crop is my only hope I just hope it wont affect yield or cause hermies. You guys recommend any good high yielding strains, I also got a few cream 47 seeds for my next grow looking for 7 week flower where possible I was told c99 was a short flowing strain, has that been your experience?
only one pheno supposedly finished in 7weeks and trichs were still pretty clear according to people from "female seeds". the people that made the ad, selling them, made it sound like all of them finish that fast, but most are about 9weeks to fully finish. dont get me wrong, they can produce a lot but usually the branches are spindly and bendy and cant support their own weight at all..especially the really stretchy pheno.
Noted. Ha ha nothing worse than supporting lines all over the tent but sounds like thats what im in for. Yeah I got them female seeds direct but only because they were recommended so much on the forums. I have been grow nirvana ak48 as my main cash crop until now, only okay smoke but very productive strain with minimal work. got 7oz of one plant on my 2nd grow with it. I was cloning clones the whole time rather than using a mother plant and ended up getting a hermie problem because I think I diluted the genetics. Hoping to find something to replace it with but with a higher quality smoke. The AK48 will finish in 7 weeks but trichs are fairly clear, good weight though and if you leave it longer its very mould prone.
