Experts!! Am I leafy?

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by DrummerMark, May 3, 2011.

  1. Hey guys... hoping some experienced growers can give me a little bit of feedback on my current grow.
I just did a transplant into 3 gallon pots this morning, but as I was looking at everything, it seems like my grow is really leafy! This is my first time, and to be honest, I havent even seen someones grow before, so it's totally new

    Any feedback?

  2. Hey you can take the bottom leaves off if they don't get light.
The plant looks overwatered and it may need some fresh air. Just make sure not to take too much at a time about 10 % of the leaves cause it will cause stress. Also check your ph cause it looks like ph shock maybe. 6.8 is ideal for liquids comin in and the run off should be about 6.0 to 6.2ish.

  3. ^No don't cut any leaves off a plant that small (I wouldn't cut any at all throughout the whole grow).

As far as "leafyness" goes you're fine but you do have some other problems.

Looks like over watering and your ph is probably off. Get those problems fixed and it will look much better.

Start reading up on ph there's a lot of info out there.

  4. Over watered is probably right.. I'm watering about every other day... maybe I should wait and water on the 3rd day. PH should be good.. I was at 6.2 yesterday, so thats not crazy off. I'll check again, and maybe add some PH Up to get it a little higher.

As far as fresh air, hopefully my ventilation is pulling enough. This is 1 of 11 (until they sex of course), and can't really put them outside.

Do they seem excessively leafy though?

  5. 10-4, thanks guys!

  6. i personally cut the bottom branches off that wont receive light, that way my plant is more focused on the top cola's...

Ive decided to do it this round (did last one), tired of trimming small fluffy weed.

  7. how far up from the bottom do you trim?

  8. u can wait to prune those i usually try to have 6-8 colas (branches) going trim the rest starting from bottom up so u can lollipop it

  9. I do have a stupid question though... If I have both overwatering AND PH problems which do I fix first? the only fix for the PH is giong to be water with an upper (i'm assuming its too low) to bring up the PH.. won't that continue the over watering issue?

  10. Water when the soils dry. if ur PH isnt right ur gonna have a lot of fun

  11. Fix the PH now while it is wet, when you water it add hydrogen peroxide to your water, dilute the hydrogen peroxide to 3% before using, it will help prevent root rot/overwatering... Then wait until the soil is dry to water from there on, easy way to tell is by lifting the pot(you can usually tell by the weight of it), or sticking your finger in the soil to the second knuckle, if it does not feel wet or damp it needs water.

  12. What is it with you guys that have to cut off things ...Every green healthy leaf is a factory producing growth energy..The only time to trim lower leaves is if there dead ,or blocking air movement that helps prevent damp areas and inturn mould..ON a plant this size leave it alone...JEEEZZZ.
If someone has told you to remove leaves there be sucked in and you as well to another BS urban myth about growing..

  13. dont put hydrogen peroxide in your water, and dont guess at your ph. if you cant afford a meter, go get a $10 aquarium test kit from walmart that includes ph up down and test solution. wait til next water and try and fix your ph. from there with a plant that size you probably only want to be watering every 3rd or 4th day. the idea is to let the soil get as dry as possible without killing the plant. this is fairly easy as if you wait too long to water, she will start to wilt. if this happens its ok, just water and she will bounce right back. its always easier to fix a deficiancy as opposed to a toxicity, same applies to waterings.

  14. I do have a PH meter.. the PH is running 6.2-6.3... from what readings (Grow Bible) thats not a bad PH.. However, a couple of different people mentioned it.

  15. Well, the PH issues I think are being addressed. I worked today to try and correct PH's and of course trying to let them dry out. I'm going to let them dry real good over the weekend before watering again (4 days) and then try and re-address the PH issues with correct watering habits, and hope that does some good.

  16. CUT THEM OFF!!!!! :)
    (Devil's Advocate)

  17. Well... it seems they are starting to look a little better.. I've started the dry out process, however, I'm finding that the PH soil tester i have is shit... so i'm going to be testing manually, and making corrections. :hello:
