Drying and Curing in a hot humid climate

Discussion in 'Harvesting and Processing Marijuana' started by kayanow, Jul 2, 2011.

  1. I live in the tropics and the heat is about 80-85 throughout my house.
    Humidity is around 65-75.

    When i hang dry the buds get crispy quick (1 week) and loose their smell?
    the branches still bend a little bit and barely snap.

    When I put in jars after they get crispy i get the nasty ammonia smell.

    Do i dry longer
    or cure sooneer?

    Any info would help..:hello::hello:

    If you can get the temp during drying between 18-22 celcius, and humidity between 45-55% in darkness for 2-3weeks using a fan to circulate air in ur dry space... Not blowing on the buds though!

    So perhaps an air con unit or dehumidifier could help, ammonia is usually a sure sign of rot, botrytis the mould that causes bud to taste like earthy asshole and makes it dark n nasty, it thrives in warm moist stale air especially on organic matter such as your hanging bud! I think your plants are dried to quick, locking in chloraphyll and other molecules so it will be harsh!

    You need to maintain drying conditions as you would growing conditions, the more stable t better ur smoke will be :)
