Dr. Michio Kaku: "The World in 2030"

  1. This man is in my opinion one of the most controversial but amazing scientist today. Below is a lecture of him explaining what we will see change in our daily life the next 30 years. Technology is going to become ridiculous.

  2. He's a great orator.

  3. watching it now but I'm going to assume it's like most his other vid's. It will eventually be true but I think his timeline is a bit off. But then again I think the same about Ray Kurzweil and he's been fairly close so far.

  4. Yeah, I've read almost all his books. When I was younger I decided that instead of blindly following the Christianity that I had been taught all my life, I should atleast hear what other people were saying to gain a different perspective on things. Michio Kaku was one of the first people I turned to.

Today, I think that the singularity is probably inevitable, and the advances in technology will reach a point where the very nature of humanity will change and the future of humanity becomes unknowable.

  5. I think it will be knowable but only to the people around then. The trick is to live until the point that we know enough to extend the human life. Once we can start doing that you win a free trip to the end (as long as you look both ways crossing the road).

  6. I believe singularity is inevitable as well. I've read that in the coming years if we live through the 2030's and 2040's we will have medical treatments that can extend our lifespan until singularity is an option. Deep moral and ethical questions surround this coming technology, personally I am wary of what's to come. Should we really be messing with the concept of immortality?

  7. yet another intellectual G :smoke:

  8. we wouldn't be immortal. just because your body doesn't decay after so many years doesn't also mean that you would live forever. You COULD but you would also have to avoid any sort of accident that could injure you. It's doesn't matter how well your skin and organs are put together and running when you're hit by a bus.

I do think the one major down side is that we will prolly have to move to a socialistic sort of system (and by we I mean the world as a whole). Not really looking forward to that part but as with any system, there are always places to hide and do your own thing. :D

  9. Yeah I've watched hours of this dude on youtube. Some of the stuff he talks about would be amazing, such as taking a shit and your toilet telling you your deficiencies and medical problems

  10. lol you guys need to read some heinlein, asimov, and clarke...after all, they are the guys that these kaku guys get their bread and butter from

  11. i dont want to watch an hour video

so will there be flying cars or not?

  12. no.

I love how Flying cars are the standard for the future. So many people don't realize that it's easier for us to learn how to live for as long as we want naturally than to make a anti-gravity car.

Basically the only thing that won't be changing is the fact that we don't have flying cars. (at least till we understand gravity better from a physics point of view)

  13. Flying cars exist today if you have the money (it's not such an outlandish price). Here's the secret to anti-gravity: 9.81 m/s^2 in the positive y direction... on a Cartesian plane.

  14. ok how about this version; flying cars in a version that if everyone downtown in a major city wouldn't mind hearing; as in it can't be any louder than current motor traffic. No one wants some crazy loud contraption flying around downtown looking all crazy. nevermind you have to get a pilot license to "drive" it.

  15. no flying cars? im not interested then

  16. Ingsoc or brave new world?

  17. In one of his videos he said something about hover cars, kind of like the mag-lev train's we have now but in cars instead.

  18. Can't wait till the government can monitor our pee and poop in real time. To take drugs in the future you will have to piss and shit outside aswell. Pissing and shitting will probably be illegal unless it's in an approved receptical because if not you will probably be charged with conspiracy to destroy evidence.

  19. Yeah but that would be in a communist WORLD. In order for majority of these feats to become accomplished, it would almost require a one world government and a peaceful world. With that said, leave it to Earth to be on the small list of worlds who actually DO make it to stage 1 under a communist regime lol.

Who knows. And truthfully speaking, IF you have a peaceful and fair leader, a communist system is the most effective and organized government. 90% of Earths experience with communism has been bad, due to most humans being fucked up when given power.

    :smoke:

  20. and thats about it
