i think this would be true because the plant is able to devote more energy towards bud production rather than making stem to support heavy buds.
id say yes it would give support and increase yeild. dont take my word for it tho because im pretty new. id say for indoor grow ops its more prevalent as the plants are generally less weathered and resistant to winds because the only wind they get are from fans rather than the constant winds of nature. this is my theory hope it helps but im not 100 percent on it. i woudl like to know the def answer as well.
If it did, you'd have a hard time seeing my weiner for all the string. It will however keep it from breaking from weight. hiigel
I find that tieing your plants down with string is effective. Makes every branch act like the main cola.
I think the Drifter means supporting the branches that carry the buds. They can break if the buds are heavy and they are soaked with rain (happened to me on some branches once after a heavy rain, fixed it with tape though!). Maybe you can use a "Y" shaped stick to put under the heavy colas. Or string if you have bushes around to do a web. Other suggestions to prevent branches from breaking under the buds' weight?
