Do I Still Need To Dry And Cure If Im Doing An Rso Extraction?

I've got a potentially stupid question here. I'm sure by the time the trichomes in my plants are showing signs of being ready to be harvested it's just a matter of cutting it up and sticking it in my magical butter machine while it's still fresh. Does that sounds reasonable or do I still have to go through the drying/cutting process?

I'm a long ways away from harvesting my first crop so I'm trying to do as much research as I can before that day, skipping over unnecessary information. Not interested in smoking, just trying to cure my dog's lymphoma.
