Specifically in how people express feelings to one another, for example my wife and friends gets upset when I don’t ask the questions they want to hear. I just don’t get it. Maybe i’m Socially retarded or something but I think it is wrong to crave attention from others and constantly think about others thinking about you- I think it’s nice to have people have you in mind when times are tough or give you a card Or something that wishes you well. I think social gratification is getting seriously out of hand to the point where people would lose their mind if nobody knew them or there was no social media. I feel like if god exists, then god is inside of us, and I feel like every day we’re straying further from ourselves to fall into the melting pot.

Totally agree. I’d like to think we’re getting better with every generation but sometimes I’m like “I hope this is a faze like mc hammer pants or roller blading.” I avoid ppl with bad habits especially when it comes to soc media and politics but, these days I’m starting to feel like I’m the one bein left out.
What is Social Media? GrassCity is the only Social Media I use - if it can be called that. At least it’s 99% anonymous and the 1% that isn’t anonymous is by my own choosing. The last thing I’d ever do is Facebook or similar where everyone knows your business. I’m also sure it’s a fad - albeit a long lasting one - still, everything passes. I work a lot - I leave early and get home late. I hang with my family. When I was younger I used to hang out with friends but it seems most have passed or moved away - I know we moved away and went north and now live kind of in the middle of nowhere in a small town on a dead end road in rural Maine, where most folks mind their own business and I’m able to only see a glimpse of my neighbors house **waaaaay over there” - and only after the leaves drop. Close enough so if you need them they’re there but far enough away I can piss on my front lawn or off the porch without worrying about it - and where I don’t need curtains and shades. While some folks are good people, I firmly believe that most people suck - they’re out for themselves - period. There’s only a small percentage that isn’t. OP - why on earth would you be depressed about society? It is what it is. Do you think it’s worse now than it was back when? Do you think it was better back in the Old West, during the crusades where you’d be killed for your religion if you weren’t catholic, or in the Roman days where you’d be made to fight to the death over any old thing, in Europe during the Black Plague or when Hitler had concentration camps going? Don’t worry about anyone but you and yours. If you’ve got actual, true friends fine but they are few and far in between. Most people suck - remember that and you’ll be fine - FUCK ‘EM. J
Yeah, I suppose things were better a generation ago, but It’s not like I think people were different back then. I actually think people haven’t changed whatsoever as far as morals go, I just feel like there were more good people outweighing some of the bad because there were obvious hard times that people had to get over- and sometimes come out stronger. I feel like it’s much easier to pretend issues don’t exist nowadays because it’s like everyone has an audience of people to back them up, and history shows what happens to people when that happens. I need to get out of this depressing town, we had a huge population increase and there are no more rural areas here anymore and that’s where some good people are.
Social Media is literally engineered to take up as much of your time as possible. The original creators of Facebook, not Zuckerburg, but a lot of the people that worked under him to create Facebook, have given talks on not only how destructive Facebook actually is, but also that it was engineered to be as destructive as possible. Most of the people who have a hand in creating social media, simply do not use it and that should tell you all you need to know.
