Just tell me your point of view, You will not be discouraged, or looked down upon for what ever advice it is you brings.. all advice is appreciated.

So, I am 19... And I put off going to college because I cannot afford it.. The college I want to attend is 56 grand for my tuition for all 4 years, I want a bachelors degree from Davenport University for Bio-Metric Security.

2 months ago, I tried to enlist into the military, the navy.. Because Its also something I considered.. However, I got delayed.. And now I have to go to a specialist to get my ears Ok'd because I have had tubes so many times when I was little because my ears wouldn't drain.. I have an appointment set up next week.. If I get the clear, I can join.

I am also considering leaving michigan, And going down to Cali, To attend Oaksterdam University, To get knowledge in the booming weed industry.. Getting the correct certifications, and growing and make a living that way..

I love weed to death, It makes me, me. Im so much happier when I smoke, And I truely love every moment of it... I have smoked since I was 16, Im just.. Lost right now.. What should I do? Can you give me any insight, or any advice? It would greatly be appreciated.

  2. Dude from what ive learned in life, just do what you love to do. In your case it sounds like you love bud alot so personally if i were you, id say to go to oaksterdam in California and take up the botany for bud. your gunna be doing what you love and also growing some dank bud... hahah

  3. Don't ask an internet forum. Do what you feel is the best direction to take in your life

  4. =] Thanks man... Looking for tips like this...

Here is how I see it...

    College.. - Respectable, Hard, Money.

Military - Respect, Serving this great country of ours, Honor, Money however money isn't really needed in this case.

Oaksterdam - Something id truely enjoy, Not that the others would be a bad choice.. But its looked down upon right now, Im not sure how my mom would feel about it, The industry is growing, Getting in now would only benefit.

Im not sure about how the money aspect works out with going to oaksterdam.. From what i've found out so far, I go get my certifications, right after that, I start in a coffee shop.. and build up from there.

  5. Dude weed is not what makes life amazing. People around you and all that shit ya know man. I would say get an education from a legit college and making money to support your enjoyment of weed.

  6. Thank you for your advice, its greatly appreciated...

Keep it coming, Tell me your point of view on this.

  7. I say get your 4-year degree, and THEN go to Oaksterdam. The thing is, a bachelor's degree means security; you have much better chances of getting SOME job if you have one, which means you have much better chances of having ample herbs in the future.

If you think you'd truly love living the life in Cali, then minor in botany at college and get a good education in plants. Botany's a boring-ass thing to study, but it's useful, especially if you're interested in what YOU are. College is extremely expensive, but honestly, just search for scholarships on line... There are hundreds of websites that are all about helping you find college funding, and there are more scholarships than you can imagine, for all kinds of wacky shit (there's one for women over 5' 10", lol).

Pot's a great hobby, but it's tough to make it in the real world just growing, or blowing glass or w/e... Even some of the most successful growers in NorCal don't make as much money as you might think.

You can join the military and take courses at almost any university you want to for free while on active duty.

Even when you are overseas you can still do your courses online.

talk to a recruiter and they can give you a list of all the universitys you would be able to take courses at.

I was introduced to my one of my boss' friends who grows in cali with 4 other dudes and has been doing it for a long time. He says its the easiest job hes ever had. Dude is loaded too

  9. Thank you for your advice guys... Much appreciated.. I've thought about every possible situation, its just nice for 2nd advices.. keep em coming.

  10. err hard one. i'm at a cross roads of sort also. deciding what way to go is so fuckin hard.

uhh. maybe do the Military thing for a while if you can to pay for school. get your bachelors. then look into weed.

the pot industry will always be there, so its good to use as a last resort. but like others said the industry is flooded with ppl, and it might not be so easy to make a living off of it.

  11. This is what I have been leaning towards... Hence why i still have my app to get my ears checked out and everything, because if my doc ok's me, which he will, i passed my hearing test.. and if he wont, i'll hold im down and force him to sign that shit.. And, yea, Thats one of the reasons im joining the military, is to serve my country, self pride, and to fund my education.. I planned on going right to school once i got out.. and like you said, pot will always be there...

But more advice is needed... especially after "Its one of the easiest jobs hes had and hes loaded" =/

  12. haha not saying its always that easy but thats what one man said to me.:p

  13. Understandable, Nothing in life worth having is easy... But I can see why he said that... I've dealed a little bit.. and grew my own..

  14. lol i hear ya.

i've been way too into pot since i was 14. i used to look down on myself, just wish i was into it like everyone else, not so obsessed. But in the last year or so i started to think maybe i'm so obsessed because this is really what i'm supposed to be doing with my life. but idk. i want others to be happy with me. if i'm happy nobody else is around me. if they are i'm usually not. grr

  15. I say go to college--I started college in my 40's. Wish I had done it when I was right out of high school. You can still educate yourself about the weed industry. Focus reports and presentations on your findings.

Hey man, I haven't had this happen to me because I'm not old enough yet to be going away to college but I swear I'm mature enough to give you a helpful decision.

Well for the little time I have been living, I have learned that education is the most important thing in life. I've seen many people fail in life and have seen many people succeed in life .. because of education. What I'm saying is I think that you should do what ever you can to get your education done and out of the way, but you must pick the right thing to learn about because if the job demand is LOW you will most likely end up like my aunt.(Read my second example) My mom tells me all the time all she wants to see me do is finish school and go to college. I plan on doing that, but you have to make sure that your decision is 100% yours man. If it its about going to college for Bio-Metric Security or going to CA to learn about weed, just make sure you think its the right thing to do. MAKE SURE YOU THINK THE PROCESS OUT AND DO AS MUCH RESEARCH AS YOU CAN :D.

Anyways about the college situation .. I see that the college you want to go to is a very nice college considering the price of the tuition haha. If you get your education, your basically set for your life. The college years I've seen and heard are the make or break of your life. My mom tells me that most of high paying jobs like hers, (Accountant) they look at your college stuff because if you want to become a accountant you learn it from going to college .. most of the time. I see that you want to go to college for Bio-Metric Security, from the research I saw that career seems like a great career to have and would be worth it in the long run. I know that money is a factor in your situation .. I have some examples that one of my aunts told me and one of my uncles told me. It seems like if you go into an expensive college it can come out GOOD or it can HURT you later on in life.

My first example is from my uncle. My uncle has always been a smart kid his whole life. He had straight A's from grade school and up through college. My uncle attended North Eastern university in Boston. I forgot what it is exactly called but he went there for like traveling the world and like studying other countries and how they lived and what not and he also majored in like an IT kind of job. Of course, what he did was got a student loan. He payed attention in college and he found a decent job that let him pay for his loans and all. He never had kids, he never tried to buy a house .. all he was focused on was getting through school and which he did and now he is traveling all over the globe and has an IT job and is making $TACKS.

My second example is from my aunt. She went to a very good school for psychology. (Boston College) At the time when she got accepted she was thrilled and did not care about the prices .. she just was so happy that she got into the college of her dreams. She had to get a student loan to help her pay for her college and what not like a lot of people do. She finished school and everything and she was off into the real world. She was stuck looking for a job, and since her career she was into was very competitive she had problems finding a job. She got married and had kids and then to top it off, she bought a house .. that put her in more of a sticky situation. She kind of messed her self up because now she is paying the expenses of her children, college loans, and a condo. The thing that screwed her over was the student loan and not having priorities. She is now in her 40's and is still paying off student loans.

So if you do, do the college thing. Just make sure you got your priories all set and it will pay off.

The military... Even I have considered this to be an option in my life. But the thing is, it is my last option. Luckily, the millitary has a lot of benefits and it will make living life easier in some sense. My grandfather, two of my uncles and one of my cousins went into the military. All four of them turning out successful but also at the same time busting there ass, being away from their family and friends and most importantly risking their lives. That's just the twist of the military. Go in and hopefully come out.

What I'm saying about that is the military is a good "resort" to plan because of the risks.

To close things off, I'll talk about the weed thing. I'll be honest, I'm almost clueless about getting into the MMJ bizzz but hey, if that is what you REALLY want to do .. do it. But like I said before .. make sure you do so much research on it and make sure if you are going to do it, the only outcome of it will be good. Also, some of the things I hear about this MMJ bizzz is that it is getting way too over populated in California and it is going totally south of their point that there trying to get to with the whole MMJ thing.

Aye, I may be very young and less experienced but I have been taking all of the information that I can from my elders. I just used what I knew to help a fellow GrassCitian out. Life is one of those things you don't dare to screw around with :smoking:.

    GOOD LUCK!

Thank you for your advice, MUCH appreciated... Its good to hear coming from someone of your, how shall i say this.. age... Thanks a ton.

Also, Thanks ele, Your post was very helpful.

  18. Dont be stupid. Go to REAL college (Not Oaksterdam). Get student Loans and then get your degree. Once your done with college then consider joining the military. The Military will pay off your college debts and if you join the military with a degree you are automatically enlisted as an officer.

DONT GIVE UP REAL EDUCATION FOR WEED!!!!!

  19. Glad to help man, need anything else just drop me a PM.
