hey, I have a question. Im growing in 90% peatmoss soil (dont have any other choice) The pH becomes more and more acidic over time. I think i had a pH of 5.5-5.7 3 months into my last grow. So i need to stabilize the pH. How can i do that? Ive heard i can add CaS04 (plaster of paris) in my soil mix to create a pH buffer. is this correct? If so how do i go about doing this?
id recommend dolomite lime has calcium and magnesium to work as ph buffers for you something like 1 tsp/gallon of soil should do the trick
To raise pH in soil: potassium hydroxide, dolomite lime, hardwood ash, bone meal, crushed marble, crushed oyster shells, or PH Up.
ProMix and SunShine peat mixes contain Dolomite lime in them. Normally its about a cup per bail (157L) of peat. If you need it early I'd add Dolopril which is granulated dolomite and takes longer to brakdown. If you need it asap then powdered will do.
