you should basically outline what job title you are applying for, why and what your qualifications are compared to their requirements. Cover letters aren't always necessary though and can actually hurt you. If you spell something wrong or make a grammar error, well kiss that application goodbye.
Why do you like this company? What can they offer you and you them? Why are you a good fit? When are you available for interview? When can you start work? Include stuff pertinent to establishing a good interpersonal relationship. Sell yourself.
