the deal is, i can copy (not trace) already drawn pictures perfectly, but when it comes to making my own original drawing it comes out kinda shitty. ive won first place for painting Ernie (sesame street) when i was like 6 or 7. im not really so much into painting, more drawing. i feel like i have so many ideas but im not sure where to start or how to apply them. tips advice thnx ;D
theres nothing wrong with copying/drawing off of photos! you should practice drawing off of life too, its really helpful! and dont be afraid to start drawing things off of your imagination either, it doesnt matter if they dont come out perfect the first tries cause you know with time youll improve! i felt the same way, all i would draw would be things off of photos and i was getting to the point where i wanted to make my own pictures so i slowly started using less and less references and incorporating my imagination into them and ive progressed a lot.. its just a lot of practice! but youll get there
