A dab pen I would more equate to something like a puffco that has an atomizer and you pack your own concentrate in it. If it uses cartridges, I consider that a vape pen, and yes, the cartridges and batteries are separate pieces. Battery can be recharged, cartridges you toss when they are empty, although many of them can be refilled a couple times
If you are trying to vape cartridges then yes. Pretty much any 510 threaded battery will do...Really no need to buy one from your friend, just get a new one at a vape or smoke shop, shouldnt cost you more than $10-$20 for the battery, cartridges have a huge range in pricing
