Commercial Grow Lighting /

Discussion in 'Lighting' started by SKOOT3R, Jul 8, 2019.

  1. Looking for some suggestions on lighting for a small commercial start up. The set up will more than likely be around 6,000 to 6,500 square feet of actual grow space (Indoor / Not Greenhouse) split between 4 rooms equally. Couple questions below:

    - What type / size / wattage would you suggest?
    - Best bang for your buck set ups?
    - Highest-end systems?

    Thanks!

  2. For that large of a space you probably want to pick a lighting company like HLG or California lightworks something like that , and then work with their lighting consultants to outfit that kind of space.

  3. Depends on ceiling height. Traditionally 1000W HPS per 4x4 tray. Lower wattage for low ceiling heights. HPS + CMH is popular these days now that it is understood that a more balanced spectrum is better. I'd go LED though if you're building up front, ROI on LED will be much quicker. 6000 square feet could be upwards of 300 lights. I've been liking my Raymatix, they might help give you a layout or plan. Previous suggestion would be good too. Fluence as well.

  4. Best bang for buck would be if you can install kit fixtures according to code and still pass electrical inspection without using boxed commercial led light fixtures which have significant mark up compared to modular systems you can remote power with drivers. My guess is you can.

I know a commercial grower on GC that's using qb132's in his veg area and they are not made in a full plug and play fixture. It must be possible.

With higher end led you're looking at wanting about 600 watts per 4x4 flower area. About 250 watts per 4x4 veg area.

Best bang for buck for veg.

Lots of products out of stock right now. I would likely go with two of these two board kits per 4x4 flower area and run them in series on two meanwell HLG-320h-c2800a's or a single HLG-600h-54a in parallel. It's not the cheapest. It's the newest boards though.

  5. I would start with inquiring various company's and see who is willing to offer the best deal for the overall quanity of leds.
