Closet Ventilation question

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by FEAR, Sep 15, 2007.

  1. Ok, I have a room approximately 8x5x5 and i am concerned about ventilation. I am planning on building my own air filter with this how to Perfect Odour Neutralizer

I am also planning on having a 4" duct fan attached to my lighting housing to redirect the hot air produced by the lights towards the back of the room and away from the plants..

in addition, I'm planning on having 3-5 other 4" fans to circulate air throughout the room.

I can not cut any holes into the room to create an intake/exhaust flow. and leaving the door open is also not and option.

Does this system seem sufficient? I know there isn't any fresh air coming into the room, but I don't see how I can solve this problem. Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated..

I've also thought about building a swinging door that would attach to the ceiling and open horizontally and attaching and intake and exhaust system that way, but I'm not sure if it would be worth it since it would just be recirculating the same air over and over again.. which is already happening in my setup.

Other details include plans to buy a 1000w hps light and to house about 15 plants.. nothing has been finalized I am still in the planning stage.

  2. You don't scare me!;)

1000 Watts in the room and no ventilation out of the room?
    You'd be cooking herbs man!
Get a fresh air intake and a way to dump hot air out.

  3. i don't know what i can do to solve this?? cutting holes into the walls or ceiling just isn't an option.. as far as controlling temperatures couldn't i just buy a small cooling unit? anyone recommend any?

  4. Even if you had an air conditioning unit in the room, you would have to vent out the hot air that it produces. Maybe you should look into doing CFL's or LED's instead.

  5. CFL's just don't seem feasible for 15 plants. i guess i'll keep doing some more research there has to be a away to do this

  6. so you guys dont think i can cool the air some how that is being extracted from my lights?

  7. yes u would good point y is a small hole not acceptale that wall puddy shit does wonders!

  8. well i've been doing some thinking about putting a hole into the wall.. the thing is the closet is underneath a staircase.. the hole cannot be visible from the outside so it would have to lead out the back wall or through the roof.. would this work bringing in dead air from inside the wall? i wouldnt mind putting the exhaust into the wall though.
