cfls to flower with?

  1. im vegging two northern lights plants in soil indoors using 4, 4' T12 floros. i know i need to upgrade when it comes time to flower but im broke. i found 2 500w cfls and they were described as color temp 6500 degrees (blue light spectrum). im wondering if just adding these when its time to flower will be enough for my ladies? if not, is there a fairly inexpensive lighting that i could buy?

  2. Buy the 2700k (red spectrum) cfl's for flowering.

  3. if i add just the red spectrum they will flower?

  4. They will flower under pretty much any kind of light, as long as there is 12 hours of un-interrupted dark. The 2700k spectrum is just better for flowering, but adding the 2700k too the 6500k would be fine, but I would switch them out completely (IMO).

  5. Agreed. The T12 lamps don't really put off a whole lot of light, compared to other readily available lamps.

Look into at least the screw in CFLs for something simple. I have a link in my sig to some really efficient CFLs if you're looking to upgrade. :D
