CFL or HID lights

  1. What light option yields the most for a closet grow?

  2. Of those two, HID.

But heat will be an issue if you have
    a small tent or cabinet.

I much prefer LED for small closet grows.

  3. Need more info. How big is said closet? How many plants do you plan on growing, and how big? How much active ventilation is there?

  4. It depends on the wattage, but watt for watt the HID wins. You will get between 2 and 3 times the amount compared to CFLs as long as the rest of their needs are met

  5. For one to two plants what watt HID should I get and how many?

  8. I wouldn't worry about the amount of plants at this stage. What size is your grow area? This graph will show you a rough idea what lights to use for your area

You can grow plants to almost any size you want but giving each one a 2x2' area is a good place to start

  13. I'm lost with inches lol, so thats about 2.5' x 5'?

I would get two lights to get even coverage. You could get two 250w or two 400w. A couple of dimmable 200/300/400w lights would be good. That way you can switch them down if it gets too hot.

Are you ok installing an exhaust fan through a wall or door?

    Edit...
Oh wait, which dimension is the height?

  14. Also , what kind of soil do you recommend?

  15. Something light and airy and make the final mix 30% perlite. I'm guessing you're not in the UK so we won't have the same brands of soil available, so I can't recommend a brand unfortunately
