Canopy Tops Pop

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by Bubblelicious, Apr 1, 2016.

  1. Hey fellow hydro growers. I haven't posted in a while, but I think my girls are ready to harvest. I have one quick question though since I am still a first time grower there are a lot of things still new to me. So I'm about to start my second week of flushing because I want consistent during the first week. Any who I went to check on the girls (bubblegum auto and Afghan auto) and I noticed that the tops had popped open. It's this normal or have I let them go too long? 20160401_124901.jpg 20160401_124852.jpg 20160401_124901.jpg 20160401_124852.jpg

  2. Sorry about the spell check guys.

  3. Dang. That almost looks like seed pods on the top of that bud. I've never seen them crack open like that. But then again, I've not grown that many different strains before either. We've stuck with the same 4 or 5 since we started this thing, but none of the ones I've grown have done like that. But the only way to tell for sure if they're ready to harvest is to get magnification strong enough to look at the individual trichomes. If you've got 25% amber or more, then they can go whenever you're ready to take them. Anything else is just a guess. So if you don't have one, order yourself a loupe. They're relatively inexpensive compared to all this other stuff we have to purchase to grow with. I picked mine up at the hydro store for around $20. But magnify those trichomes to be sure. TWW

  4. Hey White Widow thanks for the reply. I have this Carson 600x handheld led microscope. Some of the trichomes are clear and some are opaque (cloudy). None have turned amber yet though. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't doing anything wrong. What kind of strains do you normally grow if you don't mind my asking? I've started a second grow this week using cheese berry auto, sweet soma auto, chocolate skunk auto and Cinderella auto.
