Can someone recommend a program like Vuze?

Discussion in 'Silicon (v)Alley' started by froosh225, Nov 14, 2014.

  1. I've used Vuze to download torrents for a few years now. My last download was on November 6. I'm not sure what has gone on in the last week, but now anytime I try to run a search through Vuze, the program just shuts down. When I start it back up a window pops up that says "Vuze did not shut down tidily" and it suggests I visit this page --> https://wiki.vuze.com/w/Vuze_disappears

From what I can tell, it gives me a whole bunch of reasons to what it might be, but nothing on how to fix it (particularly in the section about "other DLL specific problems"). My Java is the newest version (just installed 2 days ago since I thought an outdated version might be the issue) and Vuze was the newest version. I have uninstalled Vuze multiple times and tried to reinstall it and I have the same issue. I downloaded an older version of Vuze since that was recommended on one forum I visited, but that also shut down any time I tried searching for something. The only thing I haven't tried is uninstalling Vuze, uninstalling Java, running a cleaning thing, then reinstalling Vuze and reinstalling Java. I'm not sure what caused this or what else to do from here other than trying to install a different program.

Basically I either need suggestions on how to fix Vuze, or a program that is similar to Vuze.
    THANKS

  2. Have you tried the more popular ones like BitTorrent or uTorrent?

  3. I have used utorrent for years and works fine for me. I also use peerblock as well.

  4. No but that's what I plan to do.  I had been using Vuze just because it was what a friend of mine used and it always worked fine so I never gave any thought to other programs. I'll probably try the uTorrent since both posters mentioned it. So thank you both

  5. uTorrent or Bittorrent and get your torrents from torrentz.eu, it indexes all the major sites like TPB Kickass torrents etc.

  6. qbitorrent

  7.
I used this for the longest time, but couldn't get it to bind to PIA properly.

Do you have any advice on this?

I use a torrent client called Deluge. I used to use uTorrent but now it has advertisements and stuff. Deluge has a simple UI with no ads, and works fine.
