Nope, those are stipules in the bottom pic and a new node starting in the top pic. Pistols would come up more toward the center of the stalk right where the node meets the main stem.
Negative, its too early to tell from those pictures. Google what male and female plants look like. When you get your first female then it will be simple to distinguish between the two.
I did Google it. But there is so much out there, I know the people here are helpful, and I'm just trying to get the jump seeing as they are in with what I KNOW are 9 females, that are looking good so *fingers crossed* no hermies in the bunch. Don't need any sweet, plant love making.
