Can h.p.s. Be used in a grow box ??? ( cabinet size )

  1. Looking at building a 3 1/2 foot tall cabinet to grow my plants... Im wondering if a HPS will work in there or if Ill be stuck with CFL's...

    What can you recommend for a wooden cabinet,

    Height 3.5 Width 1.5 ft Depth 1 ft

    HPS will work but creates to much heat in such an enclosed area which can burn the plants... I would stick with CFL's. They can be within inches from the plants and temp. will be better manageable, not to mention if done right you can yield the same crop. Look into Low Stress Training your plants because height will be an issue.

  3. Yes, but no more than 150w HPS would be needed for that size footprint. That's enough room for only 1 plant, can you make the box any bigger?
