Ok, so i bought a metal halide light on ebay with a magnetic ballast. Apparently it can run hps too. Well the ignitor went so the guy sent me a new one. But i was wondering, inside the case there is a ballast and an ignitor, is this all thats required to run hps/mh? i thought it needed a capacitor? Also, how do i wire the ignitor? The old one had 2 brown wires and a blue one. One brown went to the live, the other went to the neutral and the other went into the ballast. But this ignitor has a blue, yellow and white wire. What should i connect where?
idk bout the capacitor but most maagnetic ballasts have no toggle switch... they just match the output to the bulb that in there HPS/MH. Thats how mine works anyway. Hopefully sumone who knows electrical work can help ya out soon
Are you using a conversion bulb? I have never seen a magnetic ballast that runs both that doesn't have a switch. Although I never looked into magnetics other than what I see in ads. Im a big digital fan, much more efficient.
