  1. hi all

whats the best type of music in YOUR OPINION and WHY!!!!

be sure to say why... not just
    G-UNIT FTW ZOMG!!!!!!!
if you spend less then a minute typing your reply... look again.

    :hello:

    ok

IMO the best type of music is classic rock.

    why?
    skilled people playing guitar...
as opposed to many metal bands that people listen to now...
all many of them do is play some chords fast and add effects.
many classic rock songs are a lot harder and more complex...
its more of a flowing sound rather then pissed off thrashing.

    some of my favs are...
pink floyd- awsome band, do many cool things and really creative
dark side of the moon is a rox album... take a look :p
the beatles- dont like all their songs... but some are pretty cool.
the beegees- stayin alive nanana... haha, some prty good music
the rolling stones- whats classic rock without them? gogo stones :p
    and many more...

so, whats your fav and why?

  2. looking at your post, i have to point out that pink floyd is not classic rock. neither is the beegees. (they are blatantly disco).

My favorite genre is the Jam Band Scene. Amazing improvosition over groovy rhythems.

    The grateful Dead
    Umphrey's Mcgee
    The Disco Biscuits.
    Phish

Just to name a very select few

  3. Yo I'll Trade You A Psyduck For A Kurt Cobain

  4. reggae/dub

but i listen to almost everything

  5. indie rock- because it's being made by people who like music and aren't trying to cash in by having the #1 radio hit a.k.a. flavor of the month bullshit. Altho now days there are alot of shitty bands who try to cash in on saying their indie such as the killers. It amuses and depresses me that people seriously like bands like Linkin park, creed, nickleback, and all that crap. The bands most responsible for getting me into independent music would have to be Pixies, Pavement and Radiohead.

  6. Ive been feelin the jam scene umphry's and disco biscuits kick ass,
cant wait for the biscuits show june 8

  7. this is the kinda responce im looking for :p

makes me want to go check out some indie rock :p

although i do happen to like some nickleback songs...

  8. Electronica, because the possibilities are endless.

Electronica encompasses rock (like Radiohead's OK Computer, Hail to the Theif, and In Rainbows albums), jambands (Sound Tribe Sector Nine), fucking sweet contemporary beats/melodies (Four Tet), can also have rap over them, can be dance-y and clubby (Groove Armada), but can also be atmospheric and moody (Air).

    I also make electronica myself.

Particularly electronica dream pop. Well it's not really dream POP per se, but basically I gave cliche dream pop a contemporary electronica twist, but it will still take you to another far away land. Check my myspace link. Criticism and comments are welcome.

    Peace.

  9. Honestly I can't say that there's a particular genre of music that I don't like. I can appreciate them all, except for some of the talentless shit in the mainstream. But really, I can listen to everything from opera to rap to jazz to metal, and everything in between. I guess some of my favorites are classic rock, funk, and jam bands... that's still being pretty limiting and there's no way to limit it down to just one genre though.

  10. but don't get me wrong, there is plenty of crappy electronica out there. Most of them fall under the subgenres of trance and house.

    More awesome electronica:

    RJD2
    Pendulum
    MSTRKRFT
    Burial
    Aphex Twin
    Daft Punk

  11. Yes. I can agree with you there. I love all music except for commercial hip hop, and basically yes, the mainstream Prolefeed bullshit that the corporate world cranks out at hyperspeed.

But if I had to choose, I would have to stick with electronica, because the possibilities are endless.

  12. :smoke: Didn't mean any offense there with dissing nickleback ;) just getting a point across anyway, if you wanna check out some indie albums I'll recommend these for starters-

Pixies-"Doolittle" Surreal lyrics with very bass driven songs and trippy backing guitar and music that rocks out in ways no one could imagine in the early 90's kurt cobains said in an interview that his whole songwriting formula was ripped off from The Pixies ,

Radiohead -"Kid A" (really good headphones album to listen to blazed or blast on speakers cause there are lots of hidden sounds thru out the record),

Animal Collective-"Strawberry Jam" (Psychedelic electronic music with vocals that have some soul to it and lots of trippy shit going on,

Panda Bear-"Person Pitch" (animal collective member side project, trippy chilled out music made with samples and vocals that can be compared to Brian Wilson from Beach Boys)

  13. Some good new indie rock you might like skate are:

the Raveonettes (check out their Pretty in Black album)
the Warlocks (check their Phoenix album)

the Raveonettes sounds very 50s with a contemporary chillness to it
and the Warlocks sound like 60s west coast psychedelic rock but they use a lot of the Wall of Sound effect and is like WRRRRRRRRR but phat.

They are my new indie rock loves right now.

  14. Sweet Honey - Slightly Stoopid

  15. The blues are the root, the rest is the fruit.

  17. technical death metal has to be one of my favorites.

i love all music, a lot of jam bands, a load of jazz guitarists, and a good deal of hip hop, but there's something great about tech death, especially when you're high, you just have to get past the the brutality of it all. Once you get used to that, the music is amaaaaziinngg. Bands like Necrophagist, The Faceless, and Beneath the Massacre. The riffs are just incredible, the techest shit you'll ever hear. All in crazy time signatures and just right on the beat, perfectly. And some of the best crafted guitar solos I've ever heard, great mix of shredding, atmosphere, melody lines, just amazing. Listen to it! haha.

  18. Hell yeah!!!
EDM, buddy, is the greatest form out there. have you ever been to this website? http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/ I tell you, it really got me into the genera faster than anything else.
My faves are Breaks, Drum and Bass, Jungle, Hard House, Hard Trance, (basically all of hardcore IE Gabber, Happy, NRG, Acidcore) Hard Style, Scull Core, Acid Jazz, soulful drum and bass, Brain Dance, BIG BEAT, French House.... Oh there's soo much.

The only stuff i cant really listen to are trible, psy/ goa, and acid (although acid breaks rule) Oh and funny enough Anthem Trance, and Techno/minimal... it's too cold for me, and dub.

    four-tet is the shit

i was really high one night and i saw this:

Changed my whole idea of EDM

  19. reggae/jam bands

  20. badass quote

I'd have to say the best, atleast for me is Acoustic music, just anything where its one guy and a guitar, the harmonies, the small intricacies, ofcourse plain acoustic ranges all over the place from blues to folk, but thats just what makes me feel best.
