It's avoidable, but pretending that your girlfriend isn't part of this discussion is the best way to make bad things happen. So far you've very carefully ignored every part of every post dealing with that. It's clear it's something you'd rather not think about, because you don't really want to break up with your girlfriend, as this new girl is going to australia, but you also don't want to admit that you aren't doing things quite right considering you're pursuing this new girl. I would be careful with the situation as well. If your friend that you're interested in sees that you're... liberal... with your feelings, it'll make her less likely to trust you should you enter into a relationship with her.
