Hi guys, just a quick question about fluoro bulbs.. Just wondering how many bulbs and of what wattage I will need to suffice a small grow in a closet of about four plants?
Hi Jake. Are you using CFLs? If so I wouldnt look at the watts, but the lumen output. My grow currently has about 270 actual CFL watts with a total output of just over 17,000 lumens. My grow area is 2.6 feet squared. What you want to do is look at your total lumen output and divide it by your grow area squared. So 270 / 2.6 = 6572 lumens per square foot. When youre vegging your plants try to have at least 2,500 lumens per square foot in the box. Once youve switched to flowering, the need for light triples at an optimum amount of between 7,000 and 10,000 lumens per square foot.
