attaching a rope/parachute to a wing of an airplane

  1. hey i was wondering... you know how people put those things on speed boats and stuff and they glide in the air??

i was wondering how come nobody has ever done with those big commercial airplanes?

that would be crazy.. imagine hanging on to like a wing of the airplane with a long rope and a parachute.. in the middle of the clouds

is there still oxygen at that height?? and would the speed be okay?? or it would like rip ur face off or something??

  2. First of all it would be too fast, and yeah, it would be hella hard to breathe..
You'd struggle for survival, not for gliding..

  3. The reason they dont do that is the parachute would get ripped to fuck and probably put weird drag on the plane affecting its flight before it ripped up. You couldnt breathe from the altitude (Low O2) and from the speed (cant catch your breath) and also would freeze your ass off (speed and altitude). Also theres massive liability issues for the commercial jetliner. But this could be possibly done and fun on a small private plane at low speeds and low altitude, assuming the parachute doesnt mess up the planes flight too badly...
