If you're going to issue a challenge, you shouldn't flee immediately.

I don't blame you, though. There is a contradiction of monumental proportions approaching like a tsunami of death if you let it play out.

You just go on interpreting your bible to mean whatever you want it to. Christians have no problem with the OT whenever it's time to shit on gay people, conveniently ignore the same book's other sayings. I hope for your sake you're right about there being no hell.

Maybe I need to restate my 'challenge' so someone as thick as even you can understand.

State one verse from The New Testament (which is relevant to today) where Jesus commands his followers to murder others in his name.

    again...please refrain from insults

  3. There is a NT verse that leads back into the OT (it says not to ignore the smallest details of the old law), but it's worthless citing it with such hardheaded company. There is no point in even looking at the words of the bible when the other person will just substitute their subjective opinion in its place.

But your having to move the goalposts forfeits your little challenge anyway. Sad night for you.

  4. Oh that's quite the quote you've got there describing how Jesus commands his followers to murder in his name...

Of course the NT refers to the OT, without the OT the NT would make zero sense..

  5. You read this book, right? Where the OT is referenced, it is almost always quoted. I don't remember having to go back and check the OT text, mostly because a lot of those times I already remembered having previously read it in the OT. It's really not needed unless you don't trust what you're reading.

I put in parentheses the basic gist of what I was thinking of (it says not to ignore the smallest details of the old law). That would be Jesus telling you to do what God told you to do already, which really makes the most sense to me since they're the same source. It's also the most effortless and obvious explanation, and one does not have to bend over backwards to make it say what I want it to say. Whenever I bring that up, people twist one line out of the passage so that it's swimming against the current of the entire passage. I can't argue with someone like that.

  6. I am not exactly an athiest, more of an agnostic, but I will never trust government, especially when they base themselves off of Christianity or a god at all.Seems very ignorant to me.Religion has done nothing but hurt this world regardless of if there is a god or not, I know if there is one,he wouldn't want us acting like we do.

  7. And I can't argue with someone who deliberately spews false information just so they can look like they're right.

You must have quite the appetite with how much I see you constantly feeding that ego or yours sir, eh?

  8. Thats because you ignore the rest of the passage. In the rest of the passage, he tells people to go beyond and surpass the laws of the old testament. He then gives a list of even stricter commands. The fact that you blatantly ignore this shows that you arent honest enough with yourself to admit that you may be wrong.

  9. I know I have an ego. So far, you haven't given me one microsecond's worth of challenge, so these exchanges are more about attention than ego at this point. You don't even want to talk about the topics you're posting on, so you might want to look in the mirror and ask yourself about your own ego.

  10. Murder

“You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not murder,a and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brotherb will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, ‘Raca,c’ is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.

23“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.

25“Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still with him on the way, or he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison. 26I tell you the truth, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.d

    Adultery

27“You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’e 28But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

    Divorce

31“It has been said, ‘Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.’f 32But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.

    Oaths

33“Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not break your oath, but keep the oaths you have made to the Lord.’ 34But I tell you, Do not swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; 35or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. 36And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. 37Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

    An Eye for an Eye

38“You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’g 39But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. 41If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. 42Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

    Love for Enemies

43“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighborh and hate your enemy.’ 44But I tell you: Love your enemiesi and pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

  11. What are you talking about? I asked you to cite a verse where Jesus commands his followers to murder in his name from the NT and you came up empty handed so you feel the need to take something out of context to make it appear as if you're right, hence once again feeding your ego and justifying your disbelief in god.

Please read through Kush Lord's post before mine and point out where killing in Jesus' name is commanded.

  12. That doesn't really improve the situation. For instance, he expands the scope of adultery. So he just said do not ignore one iota of the law. Now he is saying that even thinking lustfully of a married woman is adultery. The punishment for adultery is death to both the offending parties. I'll grant the female her life because she isn't actually offending anyone, but the guy lusting on her is subject to death. So you've made things even more barbaric by adding in the thought crime.

  13. Tell yourself whatever you need to. You move the goalposts, that's a fail.

  14. How about what he said of murder? Anyone who kills in the name of Jesus isnt following his teachings, simple as that.

    Murder
21“You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not murder,a and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brotherb will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, ‘Raca,c’ is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.

  15.

This shits hilarious.. I dunno how anyone can really take you serious with how bad you try and dis-inform the community.

Yeah I sure am moving goalposts by asking you to refer to the laws that are relevant today, not the ones that were thrown aside with the bringing of the NT..

  16. "Show me a quote from Lord of the Rings that shows gandalf being grey"

"a lot of it, because gandalf is gandalf right he was grey and also white"

"Show me a quote from Lord of the Rings late in the tale that shows gandalf being grey"

    ...totally not moving the goalposts.

  17. There's a reason the word murder is used there. Do you know what the reason is? It's because the death penalty is not seen as murder (probably not even in today's society, but I'm not a lawer so I don't know for sure).

  18. "He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."

  19. What's the point, then? That Jesus should start the stonings? If he doesn't want her stoned, he should be more clear than to say "don't forget even a single stroke of the old law but don't be a dick while you're doing it." Hey, maybe what he's saying is that if you're going to kill someone to death because of the old law, you shouldn't do it slowly and barbarically via stoning.

  20. He was making a stance against the death penalty and helping everyone realize their sins.
