Are autoflowering strains worth it?

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by pumpdink, Dec 24, 2012.

  1. Just wondered what they compare like in terms of high, to regular plants. Also any recommendations are welcome.

  2. Autos can be excellent smoke if you pick a good strain. I enjoyed Pandora from Paradise seeds and smurfberry from sagarmatha.

  3. On average how long does it take for autos to start flowering?

  4. I think their mostly 60-80 days so prob 3-4 weeks veg 4-5 weeks flower till your done.

  5. Aren't they really good for micro grows?

  6. It depends on strain. Not all autos stay small. Mine were 3 to 4 ft.

  7. So in reality there is no point to them when you can just switch cycles when ever you want? Right?

They have their place and some strains do stay small. Yes you can switch cycles whenever you want with photo strains but that doesn't mean your plant is actually in flower. With photo strains the switch to 12/12 triggers a hormonal response that causes the plant to begin reproduction. However, if the plant is not old enough to be sexually mature it will not flower.

  9. Ok I get it. Basically just less headache worrying and doing more shit.

Oddly enough not really. They require the same care as a photo plant. The only work you really save is setting a timer.

  11. Hahaha so do you even run a light cycle at all? Or just have it at 24/7

  12. I'm no pro but I assume a 18/6 cycle would b great as some darkness does allow better growth. But I'm not sure if 4 he's is any better than 6 or even 2.

  13. I ran 20/4 with my pe auto n had nice results....its just about ready for jars...one mor day to dry....autos dnt need a certain light cycle per say...it will develope n flower under different light cycles but does best under 20/4-18/6 from wat ive seen read or done...im a newb grower so take it for wat its worth...but im more than satisfied...from seed to harvest 70 days....most photo period plants take tat much or longer to flower...not including veggin...bad thing wit autos tho is u need to buy seeds bit its a quick turn around n u can grow multiple strains faster find wat u like then do a photo of it n scrog tat girl

You can run them 24/0, 20/4, 18/6 what ever you want. Autos flower based on age rather than light cycle.

  16. My harvest is dried and its now curing...off two barneys farm pineapple express autos I pulled 160 grams...
