Ok, I need a little help from you guys. I would try Chevy Truck World.com, but it takes weeks to get an answer there. I kinda need one today, as I am doing it today. Ok, I have a 1973 Chevy C10, 2wd. 350 Engine and a TH350 Tranny. I need to replace the flexplate, because the idiot who put the starter on, shimmed it out, and it broke 3 teeth off my flexplate. I dont have any clearance between the distributor and the fire wall. But I need to do this underneath, I dont have a Cherry Picker. I was told, I could unbolt the driveshaft, put a jack under the engine, and unbolt the tranny crossmember. Slowly lower it down, til I can reach all tranny bolts, and then replace the tranny bolts, with a foot long bolts, and just slide it back, so I can get the torque convertor and flexplate. Has anyone here done this before? I know Talon, if he is still here, knows alot about cars, but I never talked to him about my chevy. Here is some pics for you guys. She is a beaut. BTW, its a 3 year old tag, its prolly a trachcan now, so Im not worried about blocking it.
