Greetings, I've never understood the argument that the theory of evolution caused the holocaust. This is quite evidently incorrect for a number of reasons. Firstly; genocide has excited since long before the theory of evolution, or even the scientific field of biology, or even metallurgy. Genocide is simply a practice of human tribalism; one tribe trying to wipe another off the face of the Earth for one reason or another. It requires no understanding of evolution to succeed. The Nazi genocide really had nothing to do with the change of allelic frequency over multiple generations. This is a blatant appeal to emotion and nothing more; it's an underhanded tactic which attempts to associate one idea with a very unpleasant one, in order to discredit it. Even if we assume that the premise and conclusion are true; it still remains totally irrelevant to what the facts of evolution are. There really is no proof that the theory of evolution is false, but then again, it is a theory. Its the most accepted answer because its easier than going to church and believing in a God. To be honest, i myself haven't gone to church in over two years but i still consider myself to believe in God. To think that life has absolutely no purpose would be very depressing. Think of all of the lessons learned throughout your life, and consider everything and everyone you effected. Sometimes you might not be able to get past the fact that God is an intangible being, but if you really believe he'll find other ways to show you he is real. Have you ever had something happen to you that you just cant explain? For example: when I was a young child, my grandma's mother died. They were very close and my grandmother owned a few of her possessions. In the months after he death, my great grandmothers vase mysteriously fell off of a shelf that was so high it could not be reached. Also, my great grandmothers guitar was heard strumming late at night with the dog howling beside a box of her possessions. Im not saying that there might not be a logical explanation for these things but sometimes that's when faith is important. Sorry to rant but i guess theres a lot to be said. Well im gonna go smoke a bowl now!

We should note, that when people say "The Theory of Evolution", they are referring to a scientific theory, not the common lexicon of theory. They are two entirely different things. That being said, Evolution is both a scientific theory and a fact. These two concepts do not stand in opposition to one another. I more of less agree. It is not 'easier' because of the explanation, the explanation requires much hard work and research to understand fully. It is instead 'easier' because of all the corroborating evidence behind it. I genuinely admire your tenacity, but a belief in a theistic entity should not compromise your belief in tangible fact. I would concur, but I don't think the theory of evolution insights any level of nihilism. Even if it did, one should never use their emotion to derive their view of facts. It is not about what is more comfortable of satisfying to believe, it's about what has the evidence to back it up. Thanks for your response samspade. I do agree with you that we do have to go by the facts that are presented to us. That is all we know. At this point you can either chose to believe in science, or what seems to be the paranormal. I do agree with you on this, many people logically would chose science. But don't you agree that there could be a science to a God? Maybe humans don't know everything and still have much to learn. Scientists for the main part agree that there are dimensions past the 3rd dimension. Time being one of them, what if for some reason, we are mearly trapped in the thrid dimension unable to see past it. Wouldnt a 4th dimensional being seem like a god to us? Not saying there is any scientific proof to back that up at all. I definently dont see this as a solid theory, but wouldnt you admit that it cant be disproved? Afterall, science is more or less disproving all theorys but the truth. Also, I havent read too much into evolution, but i remember being taught about it at school and I have read a few posts around the forums here. It seems that the theory of evolution has a few holes in it also. So, maybe neither theory is correct, but afterall, it all comes down to what you beleive, whether its science or God.
