Anyone Know Anything About Growing Onions?

    I have green onion seeds. My question is
     
    are green onions their own variety or are green onions just picked way before the bulb starts to grow on them???
     
    If i keep letting a green onion grow it will turn into the regualr bulb onions you see at the grocery store?

    green onion is harvested before the actual onion bulb forms, so if you let it keep growing, the bulb will continue to grow into a regular onion
     
    And scallions are even younger green onions that have no bulb formed..green onion has a small bulb

    Are green onions considered chives?
