Anti-African Racism in Israel

Discussion in 'Politics' started by forty winks, Mar 15, 2014.

  1. Anti-antisemitism is quite widespread in the world.  Expecting the Israelis to be perfect, and not have fuckups,  like everybody else has, is asking a bit much.

  2. In another thread you criticized the Ukrainian populist movement and maybe even called it fascist, but give a pass to this ethnic and religious based nationalism that victimizes Africans?

That's also asking a bit much, considering that this populist movement is more or less state sanctioned.

  3. Nope, not saying that Israel isn't frequently wrong, because they are, like everybody else - but given the incredible amount of hatred against them, and having suffered the highest historical levels of genocide in recent history, it's understandable that the Jews want their own country with some of them resisting immigration of non-Jews.

  4. Exactly!

Seeing as how everyone seems to think Israel should simply allow asylum seekers into the country, despite them having "chosen" Israel as their host state.

Refugees don't choose where they live.

  5. are there structures in the Dead Sea.....................?

  6. I would certainly think there would be, unless they disappeared a year since I was there.

  7. Consult the "Scrolls".  :smoke:

  8.
Perhaps.  But neither should they be treated the way they are being treated.  Could you imagine if this were happening in Canada?  Let us say, just for example, if religious leaders passed an edict that landlords will not rent apartments to a particular group?  Or if nationalist religious fanatics tormented these folks while they were shopping? Or if politicians said something like this -

"The Sudanese are a cancer in our body."

And then imagine if after said politician delivered that comment at a rally, one thousand citizens race rioted, attacking and destroying immigrants' businesses.

And could you further imagine if all of this behavior was sanctioned by the government?

    What do you think Dilla?

Would you be cool with dat if it was all happening in our beloved country?

    I doubt you would.

  9. If you have a problem with illegal migrants being placed in refugee camps in Israel, then you have bigger things to worry about that happpen to refugees in most of the world.

I have a problem with how they are being treated by some fanatical Israeli Jews before they are placed in refugee camps, and so should you btw.

  12.
DO you have a link or source demonstrating how "some" fanatical Israelis are treating them?

There's no doubt that some Israelis will not take kindly to these illegal immigrants. Saying that such a minority represents an entire country is frivolous.

  13.
I guess you did not watch the video in the link, eh?

Is it ok for a government official to say to at anti immigrant "rally" -  "The Sudanese are a cancer in our body."

Is it ok for a religious man to pass an edict forbidding landlords to not rent to such immigrants?

Is it ok for a Member of the Knesset to be publicly against assimilation?

    Is race based rioting ok?

    Destroying homes and business ok?

Has the government taken a position on any of this?  Has the government tried to stop this.  Maybe it has, I hope so.  Go ahead and enlighten me.

And why would I say that the active minority in the video represents an entire country when the producers of the video are in fact Israeli Jews?

Would this ever happen in modern day Canada?  And if it did, would not the government put an end to the racist bullshit?

  14. is non interventionalism ALWAYS the answer

What you have said is not widespread across Israel in the first place.

Surely you agree that the majority of Israelis do not agree with the statements made by one politician..?

Again, isolated events such as these are not representative of an entire nation.

anti immigration protests are not limited to just Israel; you are creating a double standard here.

Canada isn't a good comparison, as it is not in an area which has rampant illegal immigration. Are you saying Canada should not place border restrictions on illegal immigrants?

What exactly is so racist about a sovereign state having restrictions on illegal immigrants?

Here are some instances of anti immigration riots in "progressive" Europe:

  16.
    That's been acknowledged already

I agree, that's why I asked you to show me a politician who had spoken against this.

One of your favorites - already addressed.

Never said that.  But the difference is is that I would draw critical attention to where ever race-base anti immigration rallies, especially ones that are fueled by government officials.

What I'm saying is if racist Canadians started attacking immigrants' homes and businesses, and if such activity was being encouraged by some government official and members of the clergy, then "Houston, we got a problem"

You refuse to watch the video, don't you?

Oh, and you left out any mention of the racist Rabbi who passed a religious edicts to landlords to not rent their abodes to immigrants.

  18. Of course its wrong lol.

    Not denying that.

All I am saying is why single out one country, when most of Europe is becoming increasingly xenophobic.
