Ambient

Discussion in 'Music genres, Bands and Artists' started by killerboots, Sep 13, 2009.

  1. Is anyone into ambient(granted this is a broad term i imagine) at all? Just a few days days ago I was lucky enough to stumble onto Ott, but Ive literally never heard anything quite like it anywhere other than on this section so I was looking to see if anyone could point me in a good direction as far as good songs go.

Since Im not that great with genres heres a sample of what Ive been listening to:

Ott - The queen of all everything
Ott - A shower of sparks
    Vibrasphere - Forest Fuel
    Vibrasphere - Manzanilla
    Zero Cult - Neokarma

  2. Never heard of any of those artists, but here are some of my favorites:

Listen to Brian Eno's "Ambient 1 - Music for Airports" and the Stars of the Lid's album "Tired Sounds of..." for starters. If you want more of an ambient techno vibe, check out The Orb's "Adventures Beyond the Ultraorb" and the KLF's "Chillout".

  3. Itunes has a good variety of ambient radio stations that play pretty chill music.

  4. Team Sleep

  9. Nice, I love ambient and chillout. Try just searching "chillout music" chillout trance, chillout house, on youtube, lot's on there.

  10. If you like peaceful ambient music Gandalf is great.

  11. I second vagrant's post for Steve Roach. I know we're not voting but I'm listening to track three "Aftermath" from the CD "Stormwarning". Really good.

Anyone fond of Patrick O'Hearns work? Not all ambient but many dips or tones of sound. A very unique style.

Brian Eno, Klaus Schulze, Steve MacDonald (more than one CD?), Edgar Froese.

I'm going to look for some of the others mentioned in this thread at Ligamusic.com. Not a plug, but they do have thousands of songs and albums.

My favorite ambient musician has to be Mark McGuire.
