Allergic to weed?

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by Haruto, Oct 21, 2014.

  1. i've been smoking for 5 years, sometimes more than others but usually anywhere from a half to a zip a week. lately (as in the past year or so) i've been getting super itchy and breaking out in hives when i smoke and it's starting to make me think i'm allergic to weed.
at first i thought maybe it was a fertilizer or a bad flush or maybe certain strains, but i've had so many types from so many growers that it's kind of ubiquitous to all weed i smoke.
anyone have any experience or ideas on this?

  2. Either stop smoking or talk to a doctor.

I'd say you are more then likely allergic to a specific terpene as opposed to "allergic to cannabis". Limonene is known to be a skin irritant, and is commonly found in the glandular trichome head of many strains, as well as many other plants.

Are you hand busting and then touching yourself?  I know lots of people who get itchy after this.
