I own a 1000w dim-able mh/hps combo.. now if i turn it down do i need the corresponding bulb for that amount of watts? so if i turn it to half power will it still arch the 1000w bulb then only use 500w from there. or do i have to find a 500w bulb for it to be able to arch?
Nope, you still use the 1000w , the ballast just allows you to change the power output gradually .. At least that's what I was told haha Ex. my ballast lets me go from 60%, 75%, and 100%
Great question i would like to know the same thing, since i just got a 400w dimmable ballast with 50,75,100%, And a lumatek 400 bulb.
Do not worry , you do not need any other bulb . I am using 600w lumatek with 600w digilux bulb ,at this particular moment it is set to 300w .bulb is not as bright as when it set to 400 and 600.
yea i went ahead an dimmed it down.. BIG DIFFERENCE! Cool that they still arc the bigger bulb then just run at desired wattage.
