thats a wicked pattern, looks like it could be an african weaving overall its pretty sweet but i wonder if it might look better if you somehow incorporated it into the sun itself or added other decorative elements. for example you could look for egyptian motif or what ever culture and add in some tradition patterns as borders. good start if you continue with it.
that is sweet man! it looks like mail, though it does'nt have the interlocking rings, it's just the first thing that came to mind... like an amber amulet emmiting a light on the mail
