The media has regularly featured \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfantasy scenarios in which Islamic terrorists sneak atomic bombs or "dirty \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tbombs" into cities like New York and set them off. ABC's Charles Gibson even \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\thighlighted such a possibility in a Democratic presidential debate. ("I want to \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tgo to another question ... The next president of the United States may have to \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdeal with a nuclear attack on an American city. I've read a lot about this in \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\trecent days. The best nuclear experts in the world say there's a 30% chance in \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe next 10 years ... ") And the Bush administration claimed as one of its \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tgreat accomplishments the prevention of a repeat of 9/11. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAnd yet, in a sense, as on September 11, 2001, maybe we were just looking the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twrong way. And yet the effect might, sooner or later, be far \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmore apocalyptic and the lives swallowed up far greater. Their "caves" were on Wall Street. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThey hijacked our economy and did their level best to take down our world. And they may have come closer than most of us imagine. Alpine Sound and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tOppenheimer, Tokyo Pop and Planet Kids, Docks and Ruby Foo's have all gone down \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t(and more are surely headed that way). For the people who owned, or ran, or \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tworked in them, unlike the survivors of the original 9/11, there will be no \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmoving bios in the local papers, no talk of compensation, and no majestic \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmemorials to argue about. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tFor the perpetrators, who have, at worst, gone home pocketing their millions, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthere will be no retribution. No invasions will be launched, no missiles shot \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tinto homes or hideouts. None will be labeled "enemy combatants". \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tQuite the opposite, in 9/11, the sequel, the US government is willing to pay \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmany of them and their institutions in the multi-billions for their time and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfurther efforts. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tIn the second 9/11, all the pain and torture is in the neighborhood.
What makes you think these people on wall street wanted to bring down the economy? If the economy is up, they're rich! If it's in the shitter, they get poorer... They're jackasses not mad scientists.
Do not ascribe to malice what is better ascribed to incompetence. Or in this case, it is economic myopia that has led to the economic woes. It is therefore a bit ironic to attribute players on wall-street a cunning ability to plan for a willed financial meltdown, not least being cooperative and secret about it, when in all other regards they seem unable cooperate on anything in a highly competitive enviroment where one do not think further than the next quarterly financial reports. Not to mention the annual ones, upon which bonuses are decided upon.

Dood. Get a brain. Let's say a guy is on wall street. He is rich and has everything, but he wants more. The problem is, no one will sell him more, and he can't take more. What does he do? He crashes the economy so the people he wants to buy stuff from go broke. Once those people are broke, they are forced to sell their stuff to the guy because they need money. That is what is going on right now. The economy is crashed so that the people who crashed the economy can buy what they want at bankruptcy prices. You see the news stories about people buying million dollar homes for 100,000? That is what the guys on wall street are doing except with corporations. They wanted a 20 billion corporation they could not buy. Now that the economy is in the shitter, that 20 billion corporation is about 500 million. A screaming deal just like those million dollar houses for 100,000.
Don't be foolish. What has been happening the past 6 years? The war in Iraq. The wall street guys gave everybody free money for the past 6 years, so they would not protest the war in Iraq. If people are poor, they are angry and look for something to complain about. So the poor people of the last 6 years would have complained about the Iraq war. But the guys who started the Iraq war know how people are. So they planned to give everyone easy money for however long it took to destroy Iraq. Iraq was destroyed last year, so now it is time to stop the free money they were giving to people to keep them happy so they would not complain about the war. These wall street guys played everyone for fools. Basically all the people that Wall Street loaned money to over the past 6 years, were slaves to wall street. All their money went to making payments on stuff over the past 6 years, and now they can't pay, all the stuff is gone back to wall street.
