will a 75 watt HPS work for 2 plants?post back really need to know b4 i spend all my money so i can buy a light setup!!

i found it in my garage today and it is a 150watt!Duble thepower of what i thaught it was.well if a 75 would work for 2 plants then know a 150 will work even better!!!
it was only used maybe 20 times so it is like brand new. only when the dogs went out at night for like 1 1/2 months. also is this enough light???
