Costs already are high where I'm at. I use to be able to pick up an AR-15 for around 600-800 in top condition... same 1 now goes for around $2000. A few years ago my uncle picked 1 up for $1200... so at that rate, buying an assault rifle will soon cost about the same as a car. At least they are making it so only wealthy people are armed now.
Costs will go down shortly. Around here at least, they're not too bad. My uncle just bought a Bushmaster AR for $1000 as well as a Sig Sauer AR for $2700 which really isn't too crazy, though it is still a bit high. I just bought myself an Arsenal milled Bulgy AK for $1050 too; not too shabby.
Try to do that ASAP, prices are only going up. It's like gasoline. Not like electronics. Assault Rifles already cost as much as cars. Unless you consider $15k not the price of a car. AR-15s are NOT Assault Rifles.
Prices are way high right now. A mossberg 500 is about $100-$200 more then it was 2 years ago. A brick of 22LR was $50- $75 for 1000 rounds now its more expensive(if you can even find any ammo). I have been debating to invest in some lowers as it seems they are gaining in value and worst case I just build an AR out of them. I recommend get one ASAP as the price is only going up and if a Ban happens then at least you are grandfathered in.
In the past few weeks I've purchased an SR9c and a stripped lower receiver for an AR-15. I had never bought a gun before that but I do own two that I received as gifts when I was a kid (.22 rifle, 12 ga shotgun). I plan on getting an SR22 soon, as well.
