So here's my little micro shelf grow project I've got going on right now. Light set up is 2 of the FOGRO 65w boards with the QB 128s w/Samsung LM301Bs @ 3k with some red as well. I'm using 1 gal fabric pots that are 7 inches tall. I have 1.5ft of grow space. I have 6 Autos running on a 24hr light cycle. An exhale co2 bag and a fan on the shelf providing plenty of air movement and the closet it is in has AC/carbon filter/humidifier/dehumidifier/air purifier to maintain my environmental levels. Current strains are diesel berry, head stash, and trans-siberian. They have undergone a fair amount of LST training and am continuing to do so as needed. They are starting to really flower now so should stretch some more but not get too much taller. The ladies are currently around 1ft tall and around 7 weeks old if I remember correctly. I grow all my autos now in 1 gallon fabric bags. I like that size for small plants. I tried smaller and it was just an unpleasant stress for me. I tried larger but the plants got too big for one man to smoke. I run all my autos under 24/0 qb. I would not call 1 gallons beginner bags. Not much margin for error. But I really like that size for autos.
Yes. I fill mine with pure perlite and keep them in a bucket, but that takes space. But I have experimented with raising the level of the nute/water, and when high, the roots will poke out all the way up. I have discovered that for my style of growing the high water level is not beneficial. So I grow hempy style with 2 inches of nute/water in the bottom, and yes, the roots grow out all around and I neither encourage or discourage it. They just do their own thing. If I wanted them alive I would put them in a larger bag. I rely on the small one gallon bags to airprune my roots to keep my plants small. The one gallons just started as a temporary experiment to figure out some things, but I kind of fell in love with them. Now when I see pictures of 3 gallon plants they look like freaks of nature. An auto in a one gallon can be a very well balanced beautiful plant. And all the grower has to do is keep them alive.
Yeah I think the 1 gal pots are the perfect size for my limited head space. They're still growing but I think they are about to start packing on some weight which should slow that stretch so hopefully I wont run out of room. They are over 1ft now. You are on your own there. I have never tried to grow in that short of a space. My plants are usually 24 inches from the top of the bag.
Where at 8in of space now the two taller ladies, I really hope this grow works out I'm starting to get a little anxious lol. Probably gonna defoliate a bit later. Sent from my SM-G892A using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Went ahead and did some defoliation to help with light penetration. Sent from my SM-G892A using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Wanted to update this! The tallest plants are 6 inches from the light and just fine. I've kept up with defoliation to help with light penetration. Here are some pics. Going on week 10 now. Sent from my SM-G892A using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Looks good and clean. Your plants look very happy. If i was u I'd put the two taller ones on the ends. Furthest from the lights. Jus to let the smaller buds eat some photons. I read the space u had and shook my head. Seen the pics and im very impressed.. no lst? Sent from my SM-J727P using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Any hst.. topping, fimming, or supercropping.? I have 5 autos. In a 4ft by 2.5 ft.... even though i have plenty of head room at 9ft, i like the uniformity of ur grow. Sent from my SM-J727P using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I only LST autos I haven't been brave enough to try any other forms of training. The most stress I have put them through is 2 heavy defoliations during flower.
I cropped the 3 trans-siberians today and got them in the drying rack. Sent from my SM-G892A using Grasscity Forum mobile app
