im about to get a 400w Hps system, Was wonder if i have to dedicate a socket in the wall just for this or can i run my 400w light and cool tube fan to a extension cord with timer?
The light itself (well, the cooltube) will run to a ballast. From there it's just a 3-prong plug so you can plug it into a timer/extension cord.
Go to ebay and type in 400w mh hps. There are lots of cost lights on there. I think you should be able to get the ballast, (which is essentially the power supply, the cooltube, both bulbs, the sockets and everything for about $225.

I bet that's the same one I got. Is it from ledwholesalers or gyosupplies? I've heard alot of people knock them for being "chinese" or whatever, but I've been running mine for a while without any problems.
