2700k vs Warm White

  1. so im looking into grow lights and it was my understanding that 2700k=warm white (for flowering), and 6500k=daylight (for veg), but today i was looking at grow lights on the internet and there is a 20-watt CFL with a 2700k temp but it says it is soft white, so i guess my question is, when looking for grow lights, is the temp more important than daylight/warm white/soft white, or vice versa, or do they both matter?

  2. Soft white and warm white are the same thing. Yes, you only need to worry about the K scale rating of the bulb. Don't worry about whether the manufacturer calls it warm or soft or dyalight or bright white.

  3. good point.

to make it simple, just use a "cool" fluorescent for veg and a "wide spectrum aka aquarium" fluorescent for flower. Even better for flower, an HPS.
